So over the last couple months of Kingluga & Co being put together I’ve realized that there are a lot of  people out there who tend to want to take advantage of a good thing when they see it, and when you tell them no, they just disappear. You could also  have those people think you can change into something different that you are really not. This happens more often than people think.

Personalities of people change all the time. Sometimes they change when they feel like they are being left behind in something… or maybe they see a different vision of what they feel is better… Individual dreams become intertwined with the opinions of others to make people happy.  Sometimes people try to say the littlest comment to change the way someone thinks about certain things. Other times they try alter an entire way of how people view things.  It’s all depending on how you take the opinions of people around you.

Don’t get me wrong though, I have always kept an open mind towards opinions. After all, everybody has a different opinion on a lot of things in life. It’s just dependent on who you are as an individual. What happens though, is people have those opinions and you don’t necessarily agree with them. Instead of also having an open mind towards it, they just get angry. It’s because they only view their opinion as the only opinion…nothing else is relevant to them.  These people aren’t worth the time or energy to try to make them happy. Especially if they are trying to take away something that you believe in.

Long and short of it is this…be true to yourself and honest with others. If you just try to beat around the bush, it will eventually come back to bite you.  Until next time…stay thirsty my friends!!

One thing I want to talk about this week is following through with the ideas or dreams that people have. The subject wasn’t really on my mind that much up until I had a conversation about doing just that. We all have hope and dreams of becoming something, or doing something that we truly love doing.  Everybody hears about it, “I want to be a full time teacher…”, ” I want to own a house…”, ” I want to be able to support family…”. What people don’t talk about are the steps in getting there.

When you first start out in life on your own, it’s an unexpected leap of faith. You get scared to do certain things, or to become somebody your not used to. People go through highs and lows in just about everything that they do. Being from a new job, or that new relationship that just came into their lives.  Having money, to not having money. Being scared to make that sacrifice because they are scared of being hurt again, or just scared of taking the next step to improve their lives. Maybe they just hate that feeling of always being at the bottom or have a certain comfort level that they are afraid of leaving.

Trust is a huge issue for a lot of people. A very close friend has always taught me that “Trust people until they can’t be trusted…” If he is reading this he knows that I have taken that with me for many years and still use it to this day. Having people that you trust and will support you is crucial to helping you advance in life. They help you get over your fears, because no matter what the outcome, they will always be there for you. I’m lucky enough to have those people in my life and am very thankful for it. It’s not everyday that you can just call somebody, no matter what time of day, and they will pick up the phone.

I hope if your reading this you take a look outside of the box for a couple minutes. If you are not liking the position you are in in life, then make another step in the direction you want to go. Or at least take a step in a direction, and if it doesn’t work out, at least you learned something new in the process. Then repeat all over again!!

Anyway, hope that this is helpful in some kind of way. It’s taken awhile to finally understand some of these things. Until next time…stay thirsty my friends!!

In the news lately all I’ve been reading about has been about the Costa Concordia, which was the cruise ship that had a 50 meter gash in the side of the haul. In all of this, their captain decided it would be best to jump ship to save himself and let people get killed and injured.

We here at Kingluga & Co don’t agree with his actions, and think that it was a gutless call. We disapprove of his actions, and the devastation that it brought to all of those innocent people. For me personally, I’m glad that he is being charged with manslaughter. Below are some of the pictures that came from the event.

On a brighter note!!!! Over the weekend we went to the Toronto Boat show, but not before stopping at the Bier Markt on King Street West, in Toronto. This was the first time at this restaurant and loved it!!! Over 150 beers on tap from around the world!!! So obviously, we were going to have our annual Kingluga & Co meeting here, because we like to have fun!!!! Don’t think for one second we didn’t take pictures, we took some…..a lot of them… I have put two up here for you to check out, and the rest are on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/itslugatime.

We had a blast and hope that all of you are having one as well this week. On a side note….I have come across a drink called the “Hulk” . You’re probably thinking what in the world is that?!?! 1oz Hennessy followed up with 2 oz of Hypnotic. For those religious people revelations represents the coming of the “one” for non religious members perhaps it represents a colorfully worded story depicting colours, beasts and mythological verbal depictions of anthropomorphism. Either way you look at it the a story is being told.

Kingluga & Co. coming from various backgrounds and faiths is gearing up to start telling our story. A small enterprise focused on delivering you garments and clothing that will change the way you look at your fashions impact on the people around you. I believe that we should not fear the future but embrace what is to come because in my world “we” being ourselves are the creators of our own paths. If you consider the variables, everything you touch, taste, speak, listen and interact with has an influence on the direction you take. Although religion can say “god made everything there for he defines your destiny” I sometimes question that theory as there is always a fail safe in religious debate called “god made everything”. That answer can be applied to everything and anything, that is unless your Steven Hawking.

Although I believe in a higher power or creator I don’t see the logic behind the theory that he dictates all of our paths etc aka also debated as “predestination” because in my mind its a conflict of interest. If man has choice he does not have predestination. However this post is not a biblical debate it’s about the future and how the bed we lie is the bed we create.

Our foundation has been steadily growing, our followers have been loyal and our products have been well received as of late. We’re very very exited to release the “crown series” and “king series” along with the “identity series” each of these product lines have a “story” behind them and I’d like to explain each.

The Crown Series
The story: This design was inspired by the “less is more” theory, a design with simple graphical appeal but clean and strong tagging designed to give the product really nice wear-ability, durability and street appeal. Worn with a simple jean and skater shoe its the ideal tee to wear under your zip up or blazer alike. Our goal with the Crown series is to offer all 20 custom colour variations in time through our estore enabling our customers to build their crown collection. The crown series will be available in tee’s, zips, full hoodies, sleeveless tees, long sleeve and coming spring soon our “wakealuga” pronounced “wake – a – luga” which will be our wake boarding line.

The staff at Kingluga & Co. are all heavily involved in sports of all natures from Kite surfing, wake boarding, freeride/downhill mountain biking, motor cross and of course bar going! Our story behind the crown series is to create a product that offers a diverse wealth of options as to what you can wear it with or also give you the option to layer up in crown gear and hit the town in a full blown luga assault.

The King Series
The story: Truth be told this design was born one backyard BBQ afternoon after a 14 hr drive straight from Halifax. Also coined as the “flagship” product line of Kingluga & Co its bold wording & clearly labelled crown have become the iconic urban gear for Kingluga & Co. also one of our best per-ordered items.

We envisioned this gear to be worn by the “IDGAF” personality type. For those who don’t speak acronyms thats “I don’t give a fu$#!” via texting and twitter terms. So if you like your brands proudly being seen by your friends be the first to rock the King line and lead the pack into the Kingluga & Co product line.

The Identity Series
The story: As kids we dream of being something, that something can be a firefighter, police man or construction worker. The identity series will revolve around those individuals looking for an identity, each design will have a message in it and if you study the shirt you can find this message by reading the script and written content on the designs. These messages will not be posted they will only be available in the product’s themselves. So if you want to get the message you have to get the shirt.

The identities story is to change the way you look at your clothing, no longer is it just something you wear to fit in, look cool or get the girls/boys rather it becomes a part of you, the story you want to be told.

This summer we will be featuring the best story submitted to Kingluga & Co. on one of the lines we will run under the identity series. Details will be posted on our facebook group page, just login to facebook and search “kingluga & co!” and find our group.

This blog is going to be a little different from my other blogs. A friend of mine had posted a video online that was truly touching.  Here is one of the best videos I have seen in a very long time:

Everybody has people or things in their lives that seem to always hold them back.  Hold us back from accomplishing what we want to get out of our lives. Try to keep us from truly being happy with who we are as an individual.  Certain events can trigger loss of self-esteem and continue to cut deep for long periods of time. Whether these events are happening now, or they have in the past. What’s done is done and it’s not wrong for me to say….I hope those people, the one’s who have doubted our ability to succeed in life, enjoy their fall from grace. We wish you well because we will always be stronger and more confident….It’s because of you, our drive to succeed will keep rising above all else!

Those people, and those events have made us who we are to this day. We keep getting stronger as they continue getting weaker. Little do they know, all of their negativity and continuous blame have resulted in something that has been unimaginable.

Kingluga & Co is more than just another clothing company.We’re family… we want to create a chance for you to define your individuality.  We are here to make you stronger, more confident, and allow you to succeed in what you want to accomplish in life. In true Luga fashion (pun intended), and as Scott demands, I’m writing with drink in hand!  It’s a rare occasion that I’m home, so to celebrate I’ve got a Rum and Eggnog as my festive choice this eve!  Mighty tasty if I do say so myself.

I half opted to tell you the tale of my third car accident in three years that happened this morning, and rant on about people searching for change while in the drive-thru, causing me to be rear-ended… but instead, I’m going to take you on a more positive adventure and save that rant for a snowy day : )  I’d be interested to know if any readers out there have encountered Drive-Thru Drama.

My drink is nearly finished, so I’ll keep this short and sweet… I’ve got my priorities in check!

Do you ever get those moments where you say the perfect thing that results in a perfect reaction, thus causing a chain effect of an inflated egos (usually followed by really bad jokes)? Well, I do.  If you say you don’t, then I guarantee you were that kid that pee’d in the pool and was surrounded by a blue puddle, yet still swore it wasn’t you.  Shenanigans, and I’m calling you on them.

So, a few friends were over last night, enjoying a fire and my half-decorated-because-I-got-lazy-and-didnt-feel-like-finishing Christmas Tree, and I enlightened one by making the suggestion of Baileys in coffee at work to brighten her day.  Now, I know what you’re thinking… “Gee lady, original” or “You’re promoting drinking before noon, and at work? High Five!” …  I know, right?  However, this event sparked a great thing to be, and I’m letting you all be a part of the enchanting moment so buckle in for what’s to come.

Today (despite being rear-ended by the little blonde woman driving the massive SUV) while at work, I was on facebook as I would be any other day, and this friend sends a facebook shout out thanking her friend (ie, me) for brighting her mornings to be ever filled by Irish deliciousness… to which I replied, “What can I say… I’m easy on the eyes, but hard on the liver”

WHAT!? Yes, that just happened.

Subtle, short, but awesome.   That has now become my forever slogan.

So yes, it was one of those brilliant lines that sparked a beautiful moment.  Light shined down, angels flew about the sky, a heavenly “Ahhhh” was sounding over the treetops, and the little squirrels and birds were chirping with cheer.

You just got to be a part of the reenactment, so I hope you can appreciate that you little luga monsters.

Anyone with children or relatives who’ve endured bullying can most likely relate to the issues and complex’s its capable of developing.

If there is one thing I have realized in life thus far its that everyone we look at, speak to and interact with on a daily basis has an ocean of things below the surface we often take for granted at face value. I’m suggesting that certain things you say, do or imply could directly or indirectly effect your friends because of past issues, experiences etc as you never know what they have gone through.

Sadly bullying applies to all walks, races and ages; most importantly bullying is made easier than ever by massive social networks & the internet. I encourage you to reflect on your words, actions and sit back to consider the messages you send, post or perhaps even the wording you utilize on a day to day basis. I’m sure everyone at some point in their lives has been addressed in a condescending way, called a bad name, had their feelings hurt or realized that a person they once thought was a friend really wasn’t.

I have never personally endured bullying or being picked on but I have had cousins & immediate family members who have. This is the very reason I encourage sports & extra circular activities because it helps people to build a support network / group of friends making it easier to deal with the hardships of growing up. Here are a few Canadian businesses helping impact peoples lives in a positive way:

I bet you bully’s out there that chess club “nerd” can catch a football, or shoot a road hockey ball. Perhaps you should challenge yourself and sit down with him/her for a game of chess and see who walks away victorious? I think one of the best sayings to date are “those who live in a glass house shouldn’t cast stones” and my favorite quote of all times Albert Einstein “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.” – This quote has great merit. However a quote that you may have heard before by Jim Rohn speaks in its fullest in relation to this post: “Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.” I always grew up in a family that moved a fair bit, but I’m thankful for that as I am lucky to have friends ranging from Kenora ON – Toronto ON and having experienced many different places change has been apart of my lifestyle and something of great importance to me. No matter how bad life gets, or families are or friends can be there is always a place where you’ll be accepted, loved and discover friendship. If your ever feeling down hop on our blog, interact shoot us a message… chances are someone will get back to you within the hour. So to all my friends in the North, South, East and West I’m saying hey and hope your doing well!

So I’m asking all those readers out there to invite the kid next door to play street hockey next time instead of calling him/her a loser. Or to pick up the person who falls not kick them while they are down, these are the things that make you unique and valuable to others. The qualities that become important in life as you grow up and I hope that everyone who reads this agrees with what I have said! I also hope you help spread the word and make it known that we think bullying is wrong and there is no place for it at any level.

You see I (Jason) personally feel that our differences are the qualities that make us appealing. Hence the slogan I created (“its not about how you fit in but where”) it was my intentions to create a positive slogan that had implications. These implications are to help everyone realize that no matter how depressed, how bullied, how successful, how rich or how poor you are you always have someone in the same boat as you and most importantly many avenues to a new ground.

I know its impossible to change the world, nor would I even try but I know its possible to change myself and how I interact with the world and I feel that mediums like Twitter, Facebook and the internet make it so easy to hit “enter” creating a disconnect with the emotional attachment and implications of our words. If your on my side and want to help make things more positive let the tweets fly, the shares pile up and likes grow. Spread the word please and thank you!

Well we’re interested in making our products more interactive and like yourself they too have personality, that tag you see on your Kingluga & Co. front bottom is a multipurpose tag that infuses technology. Yes technology. We’ve been working with our manufacturers to fabricate a custom tag out of material that contains a 2D bar-code that is scan-able. What this means is we skip the washing & care instructions eliminating that annoying tag you just tear or cut out. We’ve done away with neck tags and moved our products tags to other locations. When developing our business it was important to us that the manufacturing process be Canadian. Not to say we have any issues with offshore product but as a small business the problem was volume, we simply do not have the numbers required to justify offshore manufacturing. Now we truly have a Canadian made product as all materials required to assemble / build the final unit are manufactured and supplied by Canadian vendors. Each of our shirts will say “made in Canada” on them.

Each of our shirts universal 2D tag’s are sewn on with purple stitching to ensure that unique “Kingluga & Co.” look and feel, the purple clothing products will feature a white thread.

What are we working on manufacturing now? Currently in development are the long sleeve products & zip up series. They will be for all currently available collections. We’re using high quality fleece and materials for your products and yes they are all still made in Canada.

Currently we are selling online only, and our estore has entered into the BETA testing phase (phase where our staff will test the website and we will iron out the bugs, improve the downfalls and make it just right for you.)
